Heiligenfeld Medical Center

Before the renovation

Client’s Brief

The building, constructed in the 1970s, resembles a gray concrete block and was intended to receive a friendly and appealing facade.

Challenge

The client found the surrounding support pillars particularly disruptive and originally intended to remove them. Since this was not possible for structural reasons, this problem had to be solved creatively in terms of design.

After the renovation

Design Concept

The design idea emerged during a visit at dusk. The intrusive pillars were to serve as the basic pillars for my concept. A lighting concept as a design idea. Alternating light cubes were placed on the pillars, thus loosening up the entire exterior facade. Additional light bodies were installed at various heights on the flat roof. The building is now an eye-catcher at any time of day.
